Thermal Conductivity of Metal Rod With Data Logging Facility

Category:

The present set-up is designed to determine the thermal conductivity of metal rod. It consists of a metal bar with one end heated by an electric heater while the other end projects inside the cooling water jacket. A cylindrical shell filled with insulating material surrounds the middle portion of the bar. The temperature of the bar is measured at different points. Water at constant rate is circulated through the jacket and its flow rate and temperature rise is noted. Electronic energy meter is provided to measure the heat input. It has an interfacing unit designed by Engineers along with Labview software. This educational software allows/enables user to log the real time experimental data and tabulate the experimental/sample reading according to the requirement of experiment. User have a control on data logging, printing the stored data and preparing spread sheets in Excel. Flexible graph plotting facility is also available in the software.
