Heat exchangers are widely used in various industries. Finned tube Heat Exchanger is a Tube-in-tube type heat exchanger. The inner tube is of Stainless steel with fins on its outside surface. Hot water flows through inner tube and cold fluid flows through the outer tube. For hot water, a recirculation type water tank is provided, fitted with heaters and Digital temperature controller. Cold water at constant head condition is to be provided from laboratory overhead tank by the end user. Direction of cold fluid flow can be changed from parallel or counter to hot water so that unit can be operated as parallel or counter flow heat exchanger. Flow rates of hot and cold water are measured using Rotameters. A magnetic drive pump is used to circulate the hot water from the re-circulation type water tank. It has an interfacing unit designed by Engineers along with Labview software. This educational software allows/enables user to log the real time experimental data and tabulate the experimental/sample reading according to the requirement of experiment. User have a control on data logging, printing the stored data and preparing spread sheets in Excel. Flexible graph plotting facility is also available in the software.
