Present set-up is computer controlled with data logging facility. When the equipment is interfaced to computer, the end user has an access of every input and output of the setup and can log data of experiments. Shell & Tube type condensers are widely used in various industries. The present set-up offers a comparative study of Vertical & Horizontal condenser, which can be operated one at a time. Condenser consists of Stainless-steel shell and with stainless steel tubes inside. Cold fluid flows through inside the tubes and steam flows through the shell. Level sensor is also provided to measure the condensate from each condenser. For producing steam, a steam generator with control valve, vent valve, feed valve, safety valve and heaters is provided. A special arrangement is provided to control heat input to the heaters. A junction of control valves is provided to select and operate either horizontal or vertical condenser. Cold water supply is to be provided from laboratory overhead tank at constant head condition by the end user. A flow sensor control valve is fitted in water line to control and measure the cooling water supply. Temperature sensors are provided and mounted at appropriate positions in equipment. It has an interfacing unit designed by Engineers along with Labview software. This educational software allows/enables user to log the real time experimental data and tabulate the experimental/sample reading according to the requirement of experiment. User have a control on data logging, printing the stored data and preparing spread sheets in Excel. Flexible graph plotting facility is also available in the software.
