Specification
The present set-up is designed to determine the thermal conductivity of insulating powder. It consists of two thin-walled concentric copper spheres of different diameter. Inner sphere houses Nichrome Wire heater and heat flows radially outwards. Insulating powder is filled between the annulus spaces of these two spheres. Temperature sensors at different positions are fitted to measure surface temperatures of spheres. A Digital Temperature Controller is provided to have an automatic smooth control on required heat input to the heater as per user requirements. Further steady state of experiment is achieved in very less time as compared to manual control. Electronic energy meter is provided to measure the heat input.
